Have you ever been in the midst of a conflict that has arisen because one person just cannot stand the other person any longer? So they make every excuse in the book why the other person should leave, and the victim is left confused, not knowing how to reconcile.
You Don’t Know Why
This situation can be devastating, especially if you’re the victim. You may try to reconcile or try to find out what you did to hurt the other person, but you get nowhere. You don’t know what to do anymore… you’re so hurt. You’re being rejected, and you don’t even know why nor will anyone tell you.
What should you do? Should you stay and just be silent to keep the conflict at bay, or should you leave? If you’re silent, you’ll feel like a puppet, but if you leave you’ll give the accuser what they want.
In My Own Life
As I have witnessed this scenario unfold between friends, I am saddened to hear one label the other “The Problem”. O, how it hurts to hear those words and understand the pain they’re causing. So, I cried out to God to show me His perspective, and this was His reply:
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:12-15 ESV)
God, Thank you for Your guidance! Please, help me to lovingly show this truth to my friends. Amen.
